Currency

The Canadian Dollar is the currency used in Montreal, and it is referred to as CAD or C$. All Canadians make use of Canadian dollars, and when compared to one U.S. dollar, its value stands at about 70 or 80 cents.

Canadian banknotes are brightly colored and easy to distinguish from another currency. They are available in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. The $1 and $2 bills are available as coins.

You can exchange some of your native currency at the airport for C$ coins. 10C$ in coins will be needed for boarding the 747 airport shuttle bus and the city metro.
