PRESENTATION

Bébé Symphonique, a Tailor-made Experience for Families with Young Children (0 - 18 months)

Montréal Space for Life is made up of five major attractions: the Biodôme, the Biosphère, the Insectarium, the Jardin botanique and the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan. These prestigious municipal institutions form Canada’s largest natural science museum complex. Together, they are launching a daring and creative urban movement that redefines the connection between humankind and nature and cultivates a new way of living.

Bébé symphonique is an experience for babies from 0 to 18 months old and their parents. It was presented at the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan from March to June 2022 and will be back between September and December 2022. This groundbreaking Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan offering is a production of GSI Musique, created by the Montréal studio Noisy Head with the music of Bébé symphonique, an album composed by Maestro Simon Leclerc and performed by the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.

The experience was created with infants in mind and designed to stimulate their senses in a playful fashion. The entire program is tailor-made for families with young children.

The show: Designed to stimulate listeners’ senses through the power of orchestral music, 2D and 3D animations and 360-degree images projected on the planetarium’s dome.

The venue: Bean bag chairs, mattresses, cushions, a stroller parking lot, changing tables, bottle warmers and more: it’s all there!

Sound and lighting levels have also been adjusted for the target audience’s comfort.

The show presented at the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan is part of the Bébé symphonique multidisciplinary project, which includes a CD box set and booklet, a coffee table book with photos and informative, entertaining texts, an educational magazine and a photo exhibit at Place des Arts (opening in April 2022). The Bébé symphonique show is followed by Stardust (max. 20 min.), a guided presentation of the night sky created especially for young families, and hosted by a live host, guiding the audience through the whole experience.
