Entangled Structures is an audiovisual fulldome performance by MONOCOLOR. It generates a virtual, abstract sculpture, consisting of monochromatic strings that continually change their interrelations to one another, constructing architectural elements that are at times rigid and stable, at other times ephemeral and fleeting. The performance proposes a virtual space within the dome that allows for reflections on the entanglement of our virtual and physical selfs that inhabit code/spaces that are both corporeal and disembodied. Entanglement is my third audiovisual work for the fulldome. The work can be seen as a continuation of my research in volumetric video. Like my previous dome-works „Latent Space“ (2018 - 2019) and „Transient Topologies“ (2020 - ongoing), the work aims to examine possible grammars in spherical, immersive video. The work aims to research both the physical effects imagery created for the dome medium can have on audiences as well as the possibilities of this medium as a trigger for social interaction and discourse. My main interest lies in the investigation of the interdependence between sound, image and space and how these three elements can manipulate and modulate the audiences perception. Another important aspect of the work is the generative nature of sound and the image which are both generated in real time. The sonic and visual material are completely procedural, consisting of systems that I can influence in real-time at the moment of the live performance, making every presentation of the piece a unique experience. This technical aspect of the work also references the thematic framework of the piece.
